MADISON, Wis. – The Drake University men's golf team moved up the leaderboard on Monday with the completion of the second round at the Badger Invitational.
"Today was a little more difficult with stronger winds. I felt we played decent again, other than a few bad holes," said Drake head coach
Matt Lewis.
The Bulldogs began the day in 13th-place and rose to 12th-place with a total score of 605 (303-302).
"Chase (Wicklund) had a very solid round and Kyle struggled on his first nine holes, but bounced back with a one-under par on his second nine," said Lewis.
Freshman
Chase Wicklund led the Bulldogs on the second day, shooting a one-over 73 and is now tied for 34th-place with a score of 149 (76-73) through 36 holes.
Drew Ison remained the squad's top scorer after carding a 75 for a total score of 148 (73-75) and is tied for 25th-place.
Kyle MacDonald recorded a 76 in his second round for total score of 153 (77-76).
Tommi Avant and
Matt Lavery rounded out the team's effort with a total score of 155 (77-78) and 161 (79-82), respectively.
Playing as an individual, sophomore
Arjun Reddy fired a career-best 73 for a total score of 151 (78-73) through two rounds.
"I was also impressed with Arjun and his 73. Tomorrow we are expecting rain and wind so it will be a mental test for the team," said Lewis.
