SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Drake University Tommi Avant was named Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete Team honorable mention, announced by the league office on Friday (May 5).
 
Avant a sophomore form Chandler, Ariz., owns a 3.42 grade-point average as a business major. Through 18 rounds this spring, Avant averaged a 74.5 per round and finished tied for 21st-place at the MVC Championships. He carded 12 rounds of 75 or less and posted a 76.1 stroke average in 30 rounds.
 
To be eligible for nominations to the MVC Scholar-Athlete teams, nominees must own a cumulative GPA of 3.20 based on a 4.0 scale and be a starter or important reserve and have played in at least 75 percent of its team's matches. Student-athletes also must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution and have completed at least one full academic year at their respective institution.
