ST. LOUIS – Former Drake University women's tennis player Maddie Johnson has been selected to the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis 25-Year Anniversary Team, the MVC office announced Thursday, April 19^th.
 
The 2017-18 season is a landmark one for the MVC and for women's sports. To help celebrate the 45^thanniversary of Title IX and the 25^th anniversary of women's sports in the Valley, the conference is naming 25-year Anniversary Teams throughout 2017-18 for each of the league's sponsored women's sports.
 
Johnson, who currently serves as the Bulldogs volunteer assistant coach, played for the Bulldogs from 2012-2016. During her decorated career, Johnson was a four-time All-MVC honoree, two-time MVC singles champion and won two MVC Elite 18 Awards. She was also three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. Johnson finished her career with a 102-33 singles record and an 86-44 doubles record. Her 102 singles win ties the program record for individual wins.
 
Team composition for each sport has been determined by a 25-person committee (two representatives from each MVC institution and a panel of five voters from the conference office).  The team composition includes years in which league teams competed under the MVC umbrella during the past 25 years (1992-2017) and does not include competition from the current season.
