DES MOINES, IOWA -- Gianna DeSaverio scored two goals as No. 15 ranked Colorado
snapped a six-game winning streak by the Drake women's soccer team with a 3-0
victory Friday at Drake Stadium.
DeSaverio gave the Buffaloes a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 9:18 mark and then
rounded out the scoring in the 55th minute.
"Colorado
was a very athletic and talented team. They possessed the ball very well
and were very organized defensively,” said Drake Head Coach Lindsey Horner.
Colorado,
which improved its record to 13-2-3, outshot Drake, 18-2.
Junior Crystal Townley (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and freshman Danielle Figliola (Longmont, Colo.) led Drake with a shot on goal
apiece.
Freshman Kourtney Arnold (Norwalk,
Iowa) made her first start at
goalkeeper for Drake, going the distance while recording 11 saves.
The Bulldogs, who fell to 7-8-1 will resume Missouri Valley Conference action
Sunday, traveling to Indiana State
“I thought our girls worked very hard and this game will only make us stronger
and more prepared for the rest of our conference season,” added Horner.
