Drake Women's Soccer Drops Season Opener To Iowa, 4-0

IOWA CITY, IOWA ?- The Drake women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision in its season opener on Saturday (Aug. 23) at Iowa.

“Defensively we have to be more organized, disciplined and physical. We got exposed tonight due to their athleticism and our fitness level,” said head coach Lindsey
Horner. “Which led to technical breakdown and disorganization amongst the line.”

Sophomore Elizabeth Woerle (Coon Rapids, Minn.) led the Bulldogs with two shots. The Hawkeyes bettered Drake in shots in the affair, 20-5

Sophomore Bailey Dorrington (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), junior Crystal Townley (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Melissa Lewis (Edina, Minn.) accounted for the three other shots for the Bulldogs.

Junior Jenny Schroeder (Albuquerque, N.M.) made seven saves in goal for Drake.

Alyssa Cosnek led Iowa with two goals, scoring in the ninth and 19th minutes.

Drake returns to action on Friday (Aug. 29) as the Bulldogs commence the home portion of their schedule versus South Dakota at the Cownie Soccer Complex beginning at 7:00 p.m.
