OMAHA, NEB. - A pair of first-half
tallies by Creighton spoiled the Missouri Valley Conference debut for the Drake
women's soccer team as the Bluejays earned a 2-0 decision on Sunday (Sept. 28).
The Bulldogs stand at
1-7-1 overall, including 0-1 in the MVC following the setback, while Creighton
improved its ledger to 8-3 on the year and 1-0 in league action.
The contest featured
an explosion of shots as the Bluejays earned a slim 19-17 advantage over the
Bulldogs.
Marcy Gans accounted
for both goals in the affair connecting on goals in the 16th (15:06) and 20th
(19:09) minutes, respectively.
Junior Jenny Schroeder (Albuquerque,
N.M./Sandia) pulled in nine saves in the tilt for Drake.
Junior Elizabeth Woerle (Coon Rapids,
Minn./Meadow Creek) notched a Bulldog season-best five shots in the contest,
including three on goal.
Drake closes out its
four-match road swing on Wednesday (Oct. 1) as the Bulldogs face Northern Iowa
in a 7:00 p.m. showdown.
