IOWA CITY, IOWA - In a match that may well define its season, No. 58 Iowa collected a 5-2 men's tennis victory over No. 71 Drake on Wednesday (Feb. 25).

The Hawkeyes improved their record to 5-1 overall, while the Bulldogs dipped to 3-7.

Junior Guilherme Marsiglia (Porto Alegre, Brazil) and senior Ivan Mendoza (Wellington, New Zealand) accounted for Drake's victories in the affair.

Marsiglia netted his second consecutive win with a 6-3, 0-6, 7-6 (4) decision over Will Vasos at the No. 4 position.

Mendoza came up clutch at the No. 6 slot besting Greg Holm, 4-6, 7-6 (1), 10-6.

The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday (March 1) as Drake entertains DePaul in a 1:00 p.m. matinee affair.  Senior Maor Zirkin (Kibutz Hazor, Israel) enters the affair need one victory to tie Robert Novotny (1993-97) and Dalibor Pavic (2004-08) atop the all-time Drake win's list with 206 career decisions.
