DES MOINES, IOWA - Registering its fourth victory in its last five
matches, the Drake men's tennis team dealt Gustavus Adolphus a 7-0 setback on
Sunday (March 7) at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs took the momentum in the affair by sweeping doubles
play for the fourth straight home match and the sixth time this season.
Freshman Jean Erasmus (Windhoek, Namibia) extended Drake's advantage to
2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Rodrigo Otero at No. 6.
Junior Mauricio Ballivian (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) made it 3-0
after dealing Patrick Clark a 6-0, 6-2 loss on the No. 2 court.
Playing at No. 1 for the first time in his career, freshman James McKie (Edinburgh,
Scotland) came through with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph against Amrik Donkena to clinch
the contest for the Bulldogs.
Drake also garnered victories from senior Guilherme Marsiglia (Porto
Alegre, Brazil), sophomore Cesar Bracho (Luque, Paraguay) and sophomore Jonathan Hadash (Lapid, Israel) at the Nos. 3, 4
and 5 positions.
The Bulldogs return to the court later on Sunday (March 7)
for a 6:00 p.m. showdown with Graceland.
