PEORIA, Ill. -
The Drake University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 Missouri Valley Conference
decision at Bradley, Friday. The loss put the Bulldogs at 9-21 overall and 5-11
in the Valley. Game scores were 16-25, 17-25, 14-25.
Drake hit just .016 for the match compared to .296 for the
Braves. The Bulldogs totaled 25 kills and 40 digs compared to Bradley's 42
kills and 66 digs.
Junior Bentley Mancini (Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley) led
the Bulldogs with five kills in 22 swings. Senior Michelle Reidy (Dubuque,
Iowa/Wahlert) and Sophomore Stacie Hansen (Lincoln, Neb./Southwest) totaled
four kills each.
Senior setter Caitlin Johnson (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore)
tallied 14 assists, five digs and three kills.
The Braves opened the match on a 6-2 run and never looked
back, taking advantage of 23 Drake errors to claim victory.
The loss dealt a blow to Drake's State Farm MVC Tournament
hopes. The Bulldogs, at 5-11, are a half-game behind Indiana State (5-10) for
the sixth and final invitation to Cedar Falls, Iowa. Indiana State plays travel
partner Illinois State Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.
Drake meets No. 12 UNI Saturday at 4 p.m. in Cedar Falls.
