Drake?s Piatkowski Recognized By PFL As Offensive Co-Player Of The Week

Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011

DES MOINES, Iowa--Drake quarterback Mike Piatkowski has been recognized by the Pioneer Football League as Offensive co-Player of the Week for his performance in yesterday's 37-14 defeat of Dayton that gave Drake a share of the 2011 PFL title. It is Piatkowski's second Player of the Week honor.

Piatkowski completed 25 of 38 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns to help lead Drake to its first PFL title since 2004, and its first win over Dayton since 2006. He shook off two early interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown, and steadied the Bulldogs' offense to match his career high with the four scoring passes.

"It was a great way to send the graduating seniors off with a conference win," Piatkowski said. "We had a perfect game plan offensively against a good defense. The offensive line did a great job run- and pass-blocking, and the receivers and running backs were making plays all day. It was just an awesome day for our team as a whole."

Piatkowski finished the season with a school record for completion percentage (65.3%), and the second-best single-season marks for passing yards (2,934) and touchdowns passes (25).

Drake finishes the season having earned seven PFL Player of the Week honors in 2011.
