INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - On the strength of sweeping singles play, Drake registered a 7-0 men's tennis victory over Butler on Sunday (Feb. 13).

The Bulldogs staked claim to the doubles point after wins at the bottom two slots, including the tandem of sophomore James McKie (Edinburgh, Scotland) and freshman Robin Goodman (Cambridge, England) earning the deciding triumph, 8-6, at No. 2 over Brandon Bayliss and Lenz Theodor.

Drake extended the margin to 3-0 in singles after sophomore Jean Erasmus (Windhoek, Namibia) and McKie recorded wins at the fourth and second holes, respectively.

Erasmus downed Theodor, 6-1, 6-1, while McKie bested Bryce Warren, 6-2, 6-1.

Securing the deciding point was senior Mauricio Ballivian (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), who registered a 6-1, 6-2, triumph over Bayliss at No. 1.

The Bulldogs also collected wins from sophomore Anis Ghorbel (Sfax, Tunisia), junior Jonathan Hadash (Lapid, Israel) and Goodman at the Nos. 3, 6 and 5 positions, respectively.

Drake returns to action on Sunday (Feb. 20) as the Bulldogs host UIC and Graceland at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.  Match times are slated for 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
