TULSA, Okla. - The Drake University rowing team and the University of Tulsa rowing teams competed in various, timed scrimmages segments on Thursday afternoon in Tulsa. Drake has spent the past week training with the Tulsa team and today the two teams were able to compete against each other in both eight and four crew timed scrimmages on the water.

"Today we had four minute pieces with Tulsa's first and second eight's and our second eight worked out with Tulsa's lightweight eight," Drake head coach Charlie DiSilvestro.  "All the extra training and workouts we have done so far are starting to show the results that we want."

The Bulldog's varsity four worked out with the Tulsa's varsity four as well and had a good performance.

"The team was mentally strong against a tough Tulsa crew and we are really proud of how well all of our boats did today against a strong Tulsa squad," DiSilvestro said. "They did exceptionally well and this sets us up for our next weekend's races in Omaha and Connecticut.

Drake will send their varsity crew to the Shelton Invitational in Shelton, Conn. and their junior varsity/novice to the Upper Midwest Championship in Omaha, Neb. on Saturday, April 1.
