The Bulldogs' 292 effort was their second-lowest score of the season, behind only a 288 carded during the second round of the Ram Master Invitational in September.

Second-round play was halted due to darkness and will be completed before the tournament's final 18 holes on Tuesday (March 12).  Morning tee times were delayed nearly 90 minutes due to frost.

"After starting off with a 90-minute frost delay, I thought Dane (Worley) and Will (McDonald) played very well to help lead us in the first round today," Drake head coach Matt Lewis commented.  "Matt (Ohl) struggled a little bit in his opening round, but he along with Devin (Leland) and Connor (Steele) all battled back and in the end all those strokes are huge." 

Freshman Will McDonald (Tulsa, Okla.) finished two shots off Worley's after carding a 72 to stand tied for 18th.

Redshirt sophomore Devin Leland (Huxley, Iowa) and junior Connor Steele (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) rounded out the Bulldogs' scoring efforts posting scores of 74 and 76, respectively. The duo finds itself tied for 30th and 53rd.

Junior Matt Ohl (Milford, Iowa) closed out the scoring for Drake with an opening-round 81 and is tied for 75th.

"We were playing very well through 11-12 holes of the second round before giving a few shots back on the final hole or two before darkness halted play," said Lewis.  "I'm confident we should be in the mix for a strong finish as we are sitting around even par as a team.  I was proud of the way Matt (Ohl) bounced back strong in the second round and that is what it takes for everyone to contribute. There were lots of positives across the board and hopefully we can have a good final round and a strong finish."

The Bulldogs close out their stay at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Tuesday (March 12) with a shotgun start beginning at 10:30 a.m. CT.
