Bulldogs Capture 4-0 Victory At No. 44 Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. - In the finale to its weekend road swing, the 45th-ranked Drake men's tennis squad registered a 4-0 victory over No. 44 Nebraska (8-6) on Sunday (March 9).

The triumph extended the Bulldogs' winning streak to four and in the process improved Drake (9-4) to 3-1 this season against teams from the Big Ten Conference.

The Bulldogs and Huskers each netted victories in doubles at the Nos. 1 and 3 positions, respectively, to set the stage for a winner-take-all outcome on the No. 2 court.

The showdown at No. 2 went down to the tiebreaker with the Drake tandem of juniors Ben Mullis (Leicestershire, England) and Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina) besting Marc Hermann and Beauregard Treyz, 8-7 (4), to garner the doubles point.

Senior Robin Goodman (Cambridge, England) extended the Bulldogs' lead to 2-0 in singles downing Hermann, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3.

Sophomore Ben Lott (Newcastle, England) pushed the margin to 3-0 on the No. 2 court after posting a 6-3, 7-6 (4) decision over Tom Blackwell.

Mullis clinched the victory for the Blue and White registering a 6-4, 6-3 triumph past Vasileios Stavropolous at the No. 6 position.

Salibasic and juniors Matt Frost (Cambridge, England) and Ravi Patel (London, England) each held advantages in their respective matches on the Nos. 1, 4 and 5 courts when play was halted.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday (March 12) hosting No. 34 Oregon in an 11:30 a.m. match at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. The showdown with the Ducks was recently added to Drake's schedule.
