PEORIA, Ill. – The 38th-rated Drake men's tennis team extended its winning streak to 10 with a 7-0 victory past Bradley (3-18, 0-4 MVC) in its regular season road finale on Sunday (April 13).
The Bulldogs (19-5, 3-0 MVC) captured the only point they needed in the affair sweeping all three doubles matches to assume a 1-0 lead.
Earning the doubles tally with an 8-4 decision over Justin Abrams and Arthur Romanet were juniors Ravi Patel (London, England) and Grant Tesmer (Lincoln, Neb.).
Junior Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina) began singles play for the Bulldogs dispatching Romanet at the top singles slot, 6-2, 6-0.
Pushing the margin to 3-0 in favor of Drake was senior Robin Goodman (Cambridge, England), who bested Nico Rakitin, 6-2, 6-0.
Pulling in the match-clinching point on the strength of a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 4 over Hamish Weerasinghe was Patel.
The Bulldogs also received victories at the Nos. 2, 5 and 6 positions, respectively, from sophomore Ben Lott (Newcastle, England), Tesmer and sophomore Rakshit Rishi (New Delphi, India).
Rishi finished first downing Abrams on the No. 6 court, 6-2, 6-3, before Tesmer dispatched Daniel Tiboldi at No. 5, 6-1, 6-0.
Lott closed out Drake's victory total downing Ashton Kalhorn at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 7-6 (5).
The Bulldogs return home hosting No. 73 Wichita State on Friday (April 18) at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. Match time in a showdown that will decide the Missouri Valley Conference regular season crown is slated for 2:00 p.m.
