DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake men's tennis team extended its winning streak to eight straight after registering a 5-2 victory over Denver (7-10) on Sunday (April 6) at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs (17-5) fell behind in the contest after the Pioneers garnered wins in two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point and earn an early 1-0 lead.
Senior Robin Goodman (Cambridge, England) opened singles play for Drake downing Alex Gasson at the No. 3 position, 6-0, 6-1.
Junior Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina) gave the Bulldogs their first lead in the affair besting Henry Craig on the top court, 6-4, 6-4.
Alex Clinkenbeard evened the contest at two for Denver edging junior Matt Frost (Cambridge, England) at No. 4, 6-3, 6-2.
Sophomore Ben Lott (Newcastle, England) pushed Drake ahead to stay downing Diogo Rocha at the No. 2 slot, 6-1, 7-5.
Securing the match-clinching tally on the No. 6 court was junior Ben Mullis (Leicestershire, England), who defeated Yannik James, 6-0, 6-3.
Junior Ravi Patel (London, England) wrapped up the Bulldogs' victory total rallying to register a 0-6, 7-6 (7), 11-9 triumph past Fabio Biasion at the No. 5 position.
Drake returns to action on Saturday (April 12) with a 6:00 p.m. tilt at Illinois State.
