The Drake University rowing team is currently looking for new members for the 2014-15 season. The team will have a meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 27 in Olmsted Room 310 at 8 p.m. for prospective new members.
Drake rowing is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. This allows the team to compete locally, as well as take trips to the east coast to compete at the conference championship and the prestigous Dad Vail Regatta. The Drake team became a varsity sport in 2000, and since then has been building a tradition of excellence both on and off the water. Drake rowers strive to support each other and encourage each other to be better athletes, students and citizens. We believe rowing is the ultimate team sport and so the level of commitment required to be successful is great, but the rewards are even greater.
At Drake, all student-athletes have the opportunity to experience both a quality education and the excitement of participating in Division I athletics. The Drake rowing program provides an environment where a student can develop academically, athletically and socially.
