SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. – The Drake University men's golf team concluded the first day of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in eighth-place with a score of 625 (304-321) on Monday (April 28) at The Club at Porto Cima, hosted by Missouri State.
Freshman Drew Ison (Edmond, Okla.) led the Bulldogs through 36 holes, shooting five-over par (74-75=149). Ison is tied for 10th-place and is just two strokes from the top five. Senior Dane Worley (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) finished tied for 25th-place with a score of 154 (74-80) and is three shots from the top 20, while freshman Matt Lavery (Peoria, Ill.) is right behind Worley with a score of 155 (76-79). Will McDonald (Tulsa, Okla.) and Blake Huser (Altoona, Iowa) rounded the Bulldogs' effort with a score of 169 and 172, respectively.
Wichita State is on top of the standings with a score of 573 and has a 21-shot lead over second-place Northern Iowa (594).
Drake will close out the 2015 season and the MVC Championship on Tuesday at 9 a.m..
