No. 37 Men's Tennis Heads to Dartmouth and Harvard

DES MOINES, Iowa – The 37th-ranked Drake University men's tennis team travels to No. 42 Dartmouth on Saturday and then with a quick turnaround plays at No. 33 Harvard on Sunday.

The Bulldogs return to action after playing at the ITA Kickoff Weekend event hosted by North Carolina last weekend. Drake fell to No. 40 NC State to begin the weekend but ended its trip to the tar heel state on a high note by beating No. 57 Indiana. On Tuesday, Vinny Gillespie was named Missouri Valley Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week as he went 4-0 last week to lead the Bulldogs.

Dartmouth enters the weekend with a 3-1 record and is coming off a 4-2 setback to No. 53 Penn State on Jan. 24. The Big Green have one win against a nationally ranked team as they beat No. 72 Clemson, 6-1, on Jan. 22.

Harvard will play No. 32 Tulane on Friday before hosting the Bulldogs on Sunday. The Crimson enter this weekend's matches with a 3-1 record and are led by 71st-ranked Nicky Hu. Harvard has three doubles pairs ranked in the top 45 and are joined by defending national champions Virginia with the only team in the nation with three ranked doubles teams.

Drake will return to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Sunday, Feb. 7 when the Bulldogs host Western Michigan and UW-Green Bay.
