Men’s Basketball Travels To DePaul

Bulldogs to face BIG EAST foe in Chicago

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men's basketball team wraps up the month of November on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at DePaul. Tipoff against the Blue Demons is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at McGrath-Phillips Arena located on the DePaul campus.

The contest will be broadcast by Fox Sports and carried on 15 different Fox Sports outlets, including Fox Sports Midwest. Radio coverage will be provided by ESPN Des Moines 1350.

The Bulldogs travel to DePaul in search of their first road win of the season and own a 1-5 record to date. Drake will be the Blue Demons' second-straight Missouri Valley Conference opponent. Last Wednesday, DePaul defeated Missouri State, 68-66, to improve to 3-1 on the season.

DePaul owns a 6-2 lead in the all-time series between the two programs and has won all four meetings on its home floor. The last time the two teams met, Drake's Reed Timmer (New Berlin, Wis.) scored a career-high 30 points on 7-of-11 shooting, 3-of-4 from the arc and 13-of-17 from the free-throw line. Graham Woodward (Edina, Minn.) also added 18 points in that game, a 74-71 loss at the Knapp Center on Dec. 9, 2015.

Timmer has been Drake's top scorer in five of six games this season and is averaging 16.0 points per game after posting 16.8 points per game as a sophomore in 2015-16. He is coming off a season-high 24 points in the loss to Alaska Anchorage. The junior guard also recently surpassed 900 career points and currently has 971 career points as he closes in on 1,000 career points in his junior season. Should he accomplish that feat, he would become the Bulldogs' 24th 1,000-point scorer.

DePaul is led by Eli Cain's 21.8 points per game while Billy Garrett, Jr. adds 14.5 points per outing. Last season, that tandem scored 32 points in the Blue Demons' win at the Knapp Center.

Following Wednesday's game, the Bulldogs return home to host Fresno State on Dec. 3 as part of the MVC/MWC Challenge. Tipoff for that contest is scheduled for 2 p.m.
