DES MOINES, Iowa – The 44
th-ranked Drake University men's tennis team hosts No. 39 Purdue on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 40 Denver on Saturday at noon at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs are happy to return to the friendly confines of the Roger Knapp Tennis Center after a tough road trip to Louisiana last weekend. Drake fell to No. 37 LSU and No. 33 Tulane and defeated Louisiana between the two setbacks.
Drake is led by a pair of Scotch natives, freshman
Vinny Gillespie and sophomore
Calum MacGeoch, who have each recorded a team-best six singles dual match victories. Gillespie is on a four match winning streak, while MacGeoch has won is past two appearances.
The Boilermakers come to Des Moines with an eight-match winning streak and have risen in the polls to 39
th after starting the season unranked. Purdue is led by Gergely Madarasz, who is ranked 58
th in singles with a 9-1 record.
The Pioneers will play at Iowa prior to taking on the Bulldogs and enters the weekend with a 7-2 record and have won their last five matches. Henry Craig and Alex Gasson are ranked 20
th in doubles with a 4-4 record. Gasson leads UD in singles with a 7-2 record, followed by David Fox with a 6-2 mark.
The Bulldogs continue their eight-match homestand on March 4 when they host No. 43 Iowa.
