Men’s Basketball Visits MVC Preseason Favorite Wichita State

Bulldogs look to snap nine-game skid to the Shockers

The Drake University men's basketball team continues its two-game road trip to start the 2017 portion of the season on Wednesday, Jan. 4, evening at Wichita State. Tipoff against the preseason Missouri Valley Conference favorite is scheduled for 7 p.m. and be broadcast via The Valley On ESPN3 and on radio on ESPN Des Moines 1350-AM.
 
The Bulldogs travel to Wichita with a 1-1 record in MVC games following an 83-69 loss at SIU on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs were led by Reed Timmer (New Berlin, Wis.), who posted 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Ore Arogundade (Chicago, Ill.) continued his strong play in the loss with 13 points and four rebounds. Arogundade has averaged 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in the last three outings.
 
Wichita State continues its homestand with a perfect 2-0 record in league play after handily defeating Bradley, 100-66, on Sunday afternoon for its third-straight win. Darral Willis, Jr., and Markis McDuffie both average more than 12 points per game for the Shockers who as a team are outscoring opponents by nearly 20 points per game.
 
Following Wednesday's game, the Bulldogs return to the Knapp Center to host Evansville on Sunday, Jan. 8, and Indiana State, Jan. 11.
