The Drake University men's basketball team takes to its home court Sunday, Nov. 26, to host Chicago State for a 2 p.m. contest. The Bulldogs return to campus with a 3-1 overall record after recording a third-place finish in last weekend's eight-team Paradise Jam.
The Bulldogs opened that tournament with a 77-74 win over Wake Forest, followed by a five-point loss to eventual tournament champion Colorado and a thrilling double-overtime win against Drexel.
Chicago State travels to Des Moines with a 2-6 overall record and the Cougars will be playing their fourth game in the last six days after going 0-2 at the Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland Tournament with losses to UMBC and Presbyterian. Drake and Chicago State have met seven previous times with Drake prevailing in all seven games.
The Cougars will try to slow down Drake's three-point attack that ranks eighth in the nation in accuracy at 45.5 percent this season. The Bulldogs opened the season with 16 three-pointers against Coe and followed that with 15 in the victory over Wake Forest. That accuracy has helped the team average a stout 87.3 points per game with a season low of 77 points to date.
The senior backcourt tandem of
Reed Timmer (New Berlin, Wis.) and
Graham Woodward (Edina, Minn.) have a combined four 20-point games between them while junior forward
Nick McGlynn (Stoughton, Wis.) is coming off back-to-back double-doubles.
Following Sunday's contest, the Bulldogs return to the road for a Nov. 29 contest at Omaha followed by a Dec. 2 meeting at Wyoming.
