The Drake University men's basketball continues its two-game road trip to southern Indiana Tuesday, Feb. 14, when it visits Evansville to face a resurgent Purple Aces team. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Ford Center and will be broadcast on The Valley On ESPN3.
Earlier this season, the Bulldogs defeated Evansville in Des Moines, 88-76, behind a season-high 28 points from Reed Timmer as one of five Bulldogs in double figures. Ore Arogundade (Chicago, Ill.) added 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the victory.
Drake has lost five-straight games with three of them coming against the top three teams in the MVC standings while Evansville takes to its home court on a three-game win streak, the second longest streak in the Valley. However, the final four teams remaining on Drake's schedule, including Evansville, have a combined 20-34 MVC record.
Offensively, Drake remains ranked third in conference scoring with 71.9 points per game against conference opponents and have made nine or more three-pointers in 10 of the team's 18 games under head coach Jeff Rutter.
Defensively, Drake has surrendered 80 or more points in two-straight games and will be charged with slowing down the Valley's leading scorer in Evansville's Jaylon Brown. The senior is scoring 20.2 points per game and scored 23 points in the first meeting between the two teams this season.
Following Tuesday's game, the Bulldogs return home to host Missouri State at the Knapp Center Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
