DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men's tennis team got up early and never let up to sweep Nebraska 7-0 on Wednesday night at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
 
The Bulldogs swept doubles to take an early 1-0 lead. Calum MacGeoch and Ben Wood rolled past Toby Boyer and Jon Meyer, 6-2 at No. 3 double. After falling behind early, 2-0, Vinny Gillespie and Tom Hands went on to win six of the next seven games to secure the doubles point, 6-3, at No. 2. Bayo Philips and Barny Thorold completed the sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 1.
 
Drake continued to roll in singles as the Bulldogs won the first set on all six courts. Gillespie put together a near perfect performance as he cruised past Dylan Badnarczyk, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Wood put Drake up 3-0 with an impressive 6-4, 6-0 win over David Samardzija at No. 5.
 
MacGeoch earned the match clinching point with a 6-2, 7-6(5) win over Toby Boyer at No. 2.
 
Philips won in straight sets at No. 6, while Thorold and Hand won in three sets at No. 4 and No. 3, respectively to close out the 7-0 sweep.
 
Drake travels to No. 18 Cornell on Saturday to close out the week.
