PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley edged the Drake University men's soccer team, 1-0, in Missouri Valley Conference action on Saturday evening at Shea Stadium.
Bradley (7-3-1, 2-0-1 MVC) scored the winner in the 19
th minute (19:16) as Drake (3-8-0, 0-3-0 MVC) had 19 shots, including six on goal, but couldn't crack the scoreboard. Roman Schindler had the Braves' goal as he played a rebound from six yards out that Bulldogs' goalkeeper
Caden McCullough (Evansville, Ind.) couldn't stop.
"Frustrated and really difficult result to accept tonight," said head coach
Gareth Smith. "We dominated the match and created 19 chances which is enough to win any game we have played this year. The buildup play and attacking creativity was very pleasing, but we need to convert chances if we want to win conference games. Execution is key and today we didn't take chances and they did. That was the difference."
Juniors
Nic Jaimes (Olathe, Kan.) and
Aleksi Tuominen (Helsinki, Finland) led the Bulldogs with four shots each. Jaimes recorded a pair of shots on goal. Senior
Gabe Edel (Greenwood, Ind.) tallied two shots on goal off the bench.
Drake returns home to the Cownie Soccer Complex to host Loyola on Oct. 7. The match with the Ramblers will start at 7 p.m. and be broadcast on
The Valley on ESPN3.
