Men’s Golf Defeats Creighton In Dual Match

Chase Wicklund takes top honors with a 73 to help defeat the Bluejays.

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake University men's golf team defeated Creighton in a rare dual match, 301-310, Monday, Oct. 15, afternoon at Des Moines' Wakonda Club.

Chase Wicklund (Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned medalist honors by leading the Bulldogs with the day's lowest round of 73.

"It was great to get the win today," said Drake University head coach Matt Lewis. "Chase led us with a solid round of 73 that was the low round of the day by three strokes. It was a cool and windy day, but I was proud of how the guys battled all afternoon. We did make a few careless mistakes, but overall it was a good day for the team."

Tommi Avant (Chandler, Ariz.)) and Shayne Patel (Edmond, Okla.) followed closely with matching 76s to finish in a three-way tie for third place.

Arjun Reddy completed the scoring for the Bulldogs with a 78.

Kyle MacDonald (Burlington, Ontario) and Zac Jenkins (Warfield, England) also competed and carded rounds of 81 and 85, respectively.

The Bulldogs return to action next week, October 21-23, at the Outer Banks Intercollegiate in Powells Point, N.C., for their final competition of the fall season.
