CHICAGO – The Drake University women's soccer team lost its first Missouri Valley Conference contest after a 1-0 defeat to Loyola Saturday, Oct. 6 night at the Loyola Soccer Park.
Aleksa Tataryn scored in the 75
th minute (75:56) for Loyola (6-5-1, 3-0-0 MVC) as it grabbed sole possession of first place in the MVC. Drake (5-8-0, 2-1-0 MVC) had just four shots with two on goal. Sophomore

Libby Helverson (West Des Moines, Iowa) each tallied one shot on goal.
Tataryn game winner came off a one-timer from 18 yards out as the ball caromed to her and she sent it over the head of a jumping
Kelsie Stone (Hoffman Estates, Ill.). Stone recorded seven saves as the Ramblers had 16 shots with eight on goal.
"I'm really pleased with how we competed and defended," said Drake head coach
Lindsey Horner. "We were organized and did a really good job of keeping play in front of us.
Sam Nosler (Westfield, Ind.) was fantastic tonight and our back four was very good. There wasn't much flow to the game in the first half but the second half was a battle of two good teams. We'll look to bounce right back against Evansville next Saturday."
The first half featured a combined 24 fouls on the two teams. Bormann's shot on goal came in the 11
th minute while Helverson's occurred in the 63
rd minute. Drake had more sustained possession in the Ramblers' half in the second half.
Following Saturday's contest in the Windy City, Drake returns to Des Moines, Iowa Oct. 13 against Evansville. First kick at the Cownie Soccer Complex is scheduled for 5 p.m.
