AUSTIN, Texas - Senior
Linda Fiorito (Overland Park, Kan.) of the Drake University women's soccer team was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Third Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced Thursday morning.
Fiorito, who owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average in marketing, started in 18 games this season at the defender position. The senior played in every game in her career at Drake University, helped the Bulldogs win two MVC titles and she earned All-MVC Scholar-Athlete honors her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, highlighted by being selected to the 2018 All-MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team.
Fiorito is the first Drake women's soccer player to earn CoSIDA All-American honors since
Ali Smith last season and just the fourth player in program history to be named an academic all-American.
Fiorito and 25 others of the 34 members of the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I women's soccer teams sport a perfect 4.00 GPA. The 11 members of the first team average a perfect GPA of 4.0, with the complete 34-member women's team averaging a 3.97 GPA.
