EUGENE, Ore. – The Drake University men's tennis team fell at No. 47 Oregon, 7-0, Saturday at the Student Tennis Center.
 
The Ducks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as they took the doubles point. Oregon won court No. 3, but Drake's Vinny Gillespie and Barny Thorold, who are ranked 61st, defeated Soemarno/Robers, 6-4, at No. 1 to keep the Bulldogs chances alive to win the doubles point. No. 21 Thomas Laurent and Cormac Classold secured the doubles point for the Ducks with a 6-4 win at No. 2.
 
Laurent and Riki Oshima gave Oregon a commanding 3-0 with straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Akihiro Tanaka topped Thorold 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the Ducks victory.
 
The Bulldogs return to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on April 7 when they host Old Dominion and UMKC
