ST. LOUIS – Drake University's Drew Ison was named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
 
Despite playing in freezing, rainy and windy conditions, Ison, a senior from Edmond, Okla., fired a one-over-par, 73, to finish tied for 11th-place with a team-best total score of 148 (75-73) at the par-72, 7,239-yard layout at the Hawkeye Invitational.  He helped lead Drake to a sixth-place finish at the event that featured a combined seven Big Ten and Big 12 teams. Drake put together the second-best score on the final day to move up five spots and were just four strokes back from fourth-place Michigan State and Kansas.  A total of seven Top-100 teams were at the event, and as a team, Drake finished better than two of them.
 
The Bulldogs return to the links on Monday and Tuesday for the MVC Championship at at Cape Girardeau, Mo.
