ELMHURST, Ill. -- Drake University men's tennis'
Tom Hands was recognized on the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence on Thursday.
Hands, a junior from Fulbourn, England, maintains a 3.73 grade point average as an environmental science major. He was selected Summit League Men's Tennis Academic All-League Team. On the court, Hands was an All-Summit League selection. He helped the Bulldogs to a perfect 7-0 league record and the program's first Summit League Championship title with his 22-13 overall season singles record. Hands also earned a singles win in Drake's 4-2 setback to Vanderbilt in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
To qualify for the list, student-athletes must have at least a 3.5 cumulative career grade point average on a 4.0 scale, must have completed at least three semesters or five quarters at the institution and must have used at least a season of competition.
