TULSA, Okla. – The Drake University men's soccer team travels to Tulsa Saturday afternoon for its lone match this week. Drake (3-3-0) and Tulsa (3-2-1) will play at 1 p.m. at Hurricane Stadium.
The Bulldogs will look to snap a two-match losing streak when they take the pitch against the Golden Hurricane. Last weekend, DePaul rallied for a 2-1 overtime win in Des Moines and Western Michigan held on for a 2-1 win in Kalamazoo, Mich. Drake and Tulsa are reviving their longtime series as this is the first meeting since the 2013 season.
Drake has scored a league-best 10 goals this season with a balanced attack as seven different Bulldogs have scored at least one goal. In the match against the Broncos, sophomore forward
Ryan Johnston (West Des Moines, Iowa) netted his first career goal.
Tulsa is coming off a 3-0 home defeat to Saint Louis Tuesday night. The Billikens led 1-0 at halftime and then blitzed the Golden Hurricane with two second-half goals. Giles Kuhler has scored a team-best three goals. Tulsa owns an 11-4-2 advantage in the all-time series, including a 3-0 decision in 2013.
Following Saturday's game, Drake begins Missouri Valley Conference play at Loyola on Sept. 22. Start time in Chicago is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3.
