ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Four Drake University men's soccer players garnered Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete recognition, the league announced Wednesday.
 
Nate Seaberg earned first-team honors while Luke Anderson, Erik Fahner, and Scott Misselhorn collected honorable mentions.
 
Seaberg, a senior from Moline, Ill., boasts a 4.00 GPA as a clinical and applied science major. He also earned a place on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. Seaberg played in all 18 games for the Bulldogs this season, registering one goal and one assist.
 
Anderson, an environmental science major, touts a 3.41 GPA. The redshirt sophomore from Wayzata, Minn., played every minute of every game this season. Anderson was twice named the MVC Defensive Player of the Week and recorded six clean sheets between the posts.
 
Hailing from Omaha, Neb., Fahner owns a 3.65 GPA while majoring in environmental science. The junior midfielder started all 17 games in which he appeared this season. He notched one assist and two goals, including the game-winner against Evansville on Oct. 9.
 
Misselhorn, a native of Cape Town, South Africa, maintains a 3.43 GPA as a finance major. He also earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. Misselhorn was a fixture on Drake's backline this season, playing 17 games while making 16 starts. He recorded one goal and one assist in addition to contributing to six shutouts.
 
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete team, nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale). Also, students must have participated in at least 75 percent of the regular-season matches or played in the league tournament. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution (true freshmen and redshirt freshmen are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution.
