WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's soccer team hosts the Valparaiso Crusaders on Monday in its first-round matchup in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tiger Field in West Des Moines.
 
Drake, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, meets Valparaiso, the No. 5 seed, for the second time in just over a week after beating the Crusaders, 3-0, on Oct. 26. Hannah Bormann (18'), Vanessa Kavan (39'), and Olivia Bruce (77') each scored to lift the Bulldogs to victory on Senior Night. The Bulldogs lost their last match to Illinois State, 1-0. The result ended Drake's four-game winning streak. Valparaiso was on the outside looking in entering its final game of the season, but the Crusaders topped Northern Iowa, 3-0, to earn a berth in the conference tournament.
 
The Crusaders (2-14-1, 2-5-0 MVC) will need to earn their first road win of 2019 in order to extend their season; Valpo is 0-9 away from home this year.
 
Lauren Torhorst, a 5-foot-6 junior defender, has scored five of Valpo's 10 goals this season. She netted two scores, including the game-winner, against Northern Iowa.
 
Valpo ranks 7^th in the Valley in both goals scored per game (0.588) and goals allowed (1.76).
