DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University tennis team bested Omaha, 6-1, Sunday, Feb. 24 morning at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
Drake (5-6) had its scheduled 1 p.m. match against Iowa State postponed. The Cyclones weren't able to travel to Des Moines due to inclement roads and weather. The match could possibly be made up in the future.
Against Omaha (3-8), the Bulldogs claimed the doubles points with win a by
Megan Webb/Kelsey Neville in the No. 3 match 6-3 and a win by
Liza Petushkova/Kenya Williams in the No. 1 match 6-3. The Mavericks claimed the No. 2 match in between those two decisions.
Drake won five of the six singles matches with lone defeat coming after
Sophia Haleas had to retire in the No. 5 match.
Drake travels to Fort Collins, Colo. for its next two matches as it plays Colorado State March 2 at 11 a.m. followed a neutral match against Air Force March 3 at 11 a.m.
