The Drake University women's tennis team was defeated by Wichita State, 5-0, in a neutral-site match at the Overland Park Racquet Club.
 
The shorthanded Bulldogs were unable to register a point in the match despite Carmen Palumbo nearly winning at No. 2 singles before falling 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 to WSU's Esther Thebault. The Shockers registered straight-set wins in the other three contested singles matches after picking up the doubles point.
 
The Bulldogs continue their season Sunday in Kansas City when they take on UMKC at noon.
