NORMAL, Ill. – The Drake University women's tennis team fell at Missouri Valley Conference champion Illinois State, 6-1, to close the regular season.
 
Liza Petushkova collected a win for the Bulldogs at No. 1 singles with a 5-7, 7-6, 11-9 win over Veronika Golanova. Carmen Palumbo nearly collected a win at No. 2 singles before fallilng in the third set to Tara Damnjanovic 2-6, 7-5, 10-8. However, Illinois State prevailed at Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6 doubles in straight sets.
 
The Bulldogs finished their regular season with an 8-15 overall record and 2-3 mark in league action heading into next weekend's MVC Championship at UNI.
