BOULDER, Colo. – The Drake University women's soccer team opens the 2019 regular season this week with a two-game road trip in Colorado. The Bulldogs will face the University of Colorado on Thursday at 6 p.m. CST before playing at the University of Denver on Sunday at 1 p.m. Live stats are available for both matches and a live video stream is available for the Colorado match.
Drake was picked second in the 2019 MVC Preseason Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs return eight starters and 21 letterwinners from last year's team that finished second in the MVC regular season standings and conference tournament. Drake also returns three All-MVC selections from a year ago.

Olivia Bruce is looking to build off a strong 2018 campaign in which she led Drake in goals (six) and points (13).
Head coach
Lindsey Horner enters her 12
th season at the helm of Drake women's soccer. Horner has guided the Bulldogs to a 96-87-29 record and two MVC regular season titles during her tenure, in addition to coaching 54 All-MVC selections.
Thursday's match will be the third-ever meeting between Drake and Colorado. The Bulldogs lost the previous two matches, which were played in 2007 and 2008, respectively. The Buffaloes finished 2018 with a 13-4-3 record and were picked to finish fifth in the Pac-12 this season.
Drake will also face Denver for the third time after recording a draw and a loss in the two prior matches. The schools will meet for the first time since 2010. Denver went 13-6-2 last season and was picked to win the Summit League in 2019.
Following the two matches this week, Drake makes its home debut against Baylor on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at Cownie Soccer Complex.
