ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Drake University women's soccer team fell to Saint Louis, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon inside Robert R. Hermann Stadium in St. Louis. The Billikens started fast out of the gates, scoring all three of their goals in the first 13 minutes of action.
"We didn't see the best version of our team today," Drake head coach
Lindsey Horner said. "We have the ability to pick up some wins if we play on the front foot and are focused and aggressive, but we also have to execute. At this level and now with a few weeks before MVC play it's imperative that we aren't letting ourselves down technically."
The Bulldogs posted a season-best nine shots but were unable to find the back of the net. Junior goalkeeper
Kelsie Stone notched two more saves after stopping a career-best nine shots against No. 21 Baylor on Friday night.
Drake (0-4-0) returns to action against South Dakota State at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 at Cownie Soccer Complex.
"We are in an interesting spot as we transition from six contests against Pac-12, Big East, Big 12, and three NCAA Tournament participants to some very gritty mid-major opponents," Horner said. "I'm excited for next weekend as I know it will be a defining weekend for us in proving the type of team that we are this year."
