The Drake University men's golf team begins the 2019 fall season at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational on Friday, Sept. 6 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The 54-hole event begins on Friday and runs until Saturday, with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. all three days. The tournament has an 18-team field including the host school Air Force, Boise State, California Baptist, Colorado, CSUN, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, SIU Edwardsville, Southern Utah, Texas State, UC Davis, Utah State, Utah Valley, UTEP, Valparaiso, Weber State and Wyoming.

Drake is coached by Matt Lewis who begins his eighth season at the helm of the men's golf team. The Bulldogs return six players from last season, Zac Jenkins, Tim Lim, Kyle MacDonald, Shayne Patel, Lucas Scherf and Chase Wicklund. Wicklund posted a team-low 74.9 scoring average in 27 rounds in 2018-19, and Scherf was not far behind with a scoring average of 75.1. Both were consistent all season, Wicklund and Scherf both had streaks of nine or more rounds breaking 80.

The Bulldogs welcome two freshman additions to the roster, Nick Pittman (Urbandale, Iowa) and Silvester Tan (Perth, Australia).

Following the Falcon Invitational, Drake will travel to the SIU Edwardsville Derek Dolenc Invitational on Sept. 23-24.
