Women's Soccer to Play Host to Kansas City on Sunday

The Bulldogs enter the match with momentum after winning 1-0 on Friday night.

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Drake University women's soccer team will kick off against Kansas City on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Cownie Soccer Complex.
 
The Bulldogs enter the match after winning at home against South Dakota State, 1-0, on Friday night thanks to a goal by Hannah Bormann.

Scouting Kansas City
 
The Roos enter Sunday's match 4-0-1 after finishing last season with a program-record 16 wins en route to a second-straight Western Athletic Conference championship.
 
Kansas City boasts a high-powered offense that finished last season ranked in the top-10 nationally in six statistical categories, including goals scored per game (2.43).
 
The unit is led by sophomore forward Rylan Childers, who was named to the First Team All-WAC in 2018 and collected the conference's freshman of the year award.
 
She was also named to Top Drawer Soccer's Freshman All-American Second Team after tying for fourth nationally in assists (14) and leading the conference with 11 goals and 36 points. Childers enters Sunday leading the Roos with four goals and nine points on the young season.
 
Kansas City returns the WAC Defensive Player of the Year, Abby Small, and second team all-conference selection Halle Hamilton.
 
The Roos are led by Chris Cissell, who has been named the WAC Coach of the Year the previous two seasons.
