Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Drake University men's golf team finished the third and final round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in 15th-place on Sunday, September 8.
The Bulldogs posted a final round 310 to finish with a 54-hole total of 905. Host team Air Force fell out of the top spot after shooting 298, and Colorado rose to the top with a five-stroke lead over Northern Colorado. There was a three-way tied for the top individual finisher between Jake Vincent of Southern Utah, and Northern Colorado teammates Jack Castiglia and Coby Welch with a final total of 209. Vincent won in a playoff to take home the individual championship.
Freshman Nick Pittman once again finished with the low round for the Bulldogs, shooting a 76 that put him in a tie for 31st at 218 (72-70-76). Tim Lim shot a third-round 77 to finish tied for 65th at 227 (76-74-77) and Lucas Scherf fired a 78 to finish tied for 75th with 228 (74-76-78), just one stroke behind Lim. Silvester Tan and Shayne Patel finished tied for 89th and 94th, respectively, at 235 (74-79-82) and 238 (79-80-79).
The Bulldogs will be back in action Sept. 23-24 for the SIU Edwardsville Derek Dolenc Invitational.
