CHICAGO, Ill. – The Drake University men's soccer team fell to DePaul, 3-0, on Monday at Wish Field in Chicago. The Blue Demons struck early in each half to put away the Bulldogs.
DePaul's Youssef Ramadan headed home a corner kick off the foot of Max De Bruijne in the 11
th minute to give the Blue Demons an early lead. DePaul added to its lead in the 51
st minute on an impressive free-kick strike by Zach El-Shafei before scoring again in the 52
nd minute courtesy of a volley by Jacob Seeto.
The Bulldogs (1-3-0) weren't without scoring opportunities of their own, gaining a 9-7 advantage in shot attempts.
Leroy Enzugusi and
Antonio Sanchez both fired two shots, and
Antonio Melendez uncorked a shot on goal for Drake.
It was a physical match as the teams combined to be whistled for 37 fouls and nine yellow cards.
Drake returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. against Kansas City at Cownie Soccer Complex.
