LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Drake University women's tennis team dropped its dual against No. 19 Kansas, 7-0, on Saturday night at Jayhawk Tennis Center.
Kelsey Neville and
Maria Tatarnikova came away with a doubles victory on court three, but Kansas won the other two matches to claim the doubles point. The Jayhawks then reeled off six singles wins to seal the dual victory.
Drake's
Carmen Palumbo posted a strong showing at No. 2 singles before falling to No. 93 Malkia Ngounoue, 6-3, 6-3. The Bulldogs'
Liza Petushkova also faced a ranked foe at No. 1 singles, falling, 6-0, 6-1 to No. 63 Sonia Smagina.
Drake (1-1) travels back home and welcomes South Dakota at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 inside the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
