Men's Basketball Looks To Extend Home Win Steak Sunday

Bulldogs have won four-straight against Missouri State

The Drake University men's basketball team puts its 14-game home win streak on the line Sunday when it hosts Missouri State at the Knapp Center. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. on ESPN3.

The Bulldogs' streak dates back to Jan. 30, 2018, and is the 12th longest home win streak in the nation. Drake's women's team has also won 14-straight home games to make the Bulldogs the only school in the country to have 14-game or longer streaks for both men's and women's teams.

Missouri State is 4-3 in the MVC and on a two-game win streak. Drake improved to 14-6 and 4-3 in the Valley with a 73-50 win at Evansville Wednesday evening.

That win was Drake's biggest margin of victory in an MVC road game in the last decade as the Bulldogs held Evansville to 50 points, the fewest Drake has surrendered this season.

Drake made 10 three-pointers at Evansville with Roman Penn matching a season-high with three to finish with 14 points and eight assists as he moved back into the top 25 nationally in assists with 6.1 per game. Jonah Jackson was also 3-of-4 from the arc. The junior transfer has made three or more three-pointers in a game eight times this season and is 24-of-57 from the arc in the last eight games.

The Bulldogs have swept the season series from the Bears each of the last two seasons and have won five of the previous six meetings between the two programs. Thirty-five percent of the Bulldogs' all-time wins against the Bears have come in the last five seasons.

This season, Keandre Cook leads the Bears with 15.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. The Bears are 2-1 on the road in league games.

Following Sunday's contest, Drake travels to Indiana State Jan. 29 before returning home for Des Moines' Hometown Team Weekend Feb. 1 against SIU. The Bulldogs will debut their Des Moines Hometown Team uniforms for the first time in that game at the Knapp Center.
