FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Drake University men's tennis team participated in an action-packed Saturday at the Dills Indoor Tennis Center. The Bulldogs fell to Arkansas, 4-1, in the afternoon before losing 4-0 against Middle Tennessee.
Against the Razorbacks, Drake claimed the doubles points thanks to victories by
Barny Thorold/
Reid Jarvis (6-3) and
Oliver Johansson/
Matija Matic (7-5). Arkansas responded with four-straight singles victories to claim the dual victory. Johansson's (7-6, 3-3) and Thorold's (5-7, 4-4) matches were unfinished.
Middle Tennessee drew first blood against Drake by snatching the first two doubles matches, leaving the pairing of Johansson/Matic unfinished at 4-4.
The Blue Raiders extended their lead to 3-0 after knocking off
Freddie Powell (6-1, 6-2) and Jarvis (6-0, 6-4). Fragistas then fell, 5-7, 1-6, as Middle Tennessee clinched the dual. The remaining singles matches went unfinished.
Drake (1-4) concludes the weekend down south with a dual at 11 a.m. on Sunday against Wichita State.
