Men's Basketball Hosts SIU For Des Moines' Hometown Team Weekend

Bulldogs own the nation's ninth-longest win streak in the nation.

The Drake University men's basketball debuts its new Des Moines themed uniforms Saturday for Des Moines Hometown Team Weekend in the Knapp Center. The Bulldogs own a 15-game home win streak in the Knapp Center and will celebrate their bond with the city of Des Moines against a red-hot SIU team.

Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at the Knapp Center on Mediacom MC22 and ESPN+

The Bulldogs 15-game home win streak is the ninth-longest in the nation as Drake is 11-0 at home this season while averaging nearly 80 points per game at the Knapp Center.

SIU visits the Knapp Center as the hottest team in the league, with four-straight wins in tow. That streak began with a 66-49 victory over Drake in Carbondale, Jan. 19.  The Salukis are 12-10 overall and 6-3 in league play.

Drake (15-7, 5-4 MVC) is coming off a last-second, 58-56, loss at Indiana State in which the Bulldogs shot 47.6 percent, its third-highest percentage in a loss this season. In its four MVC losses, Drake is shooting 45.6 percent (94-of-206).

Liam Robbins led Drake in that loss with a 12-point, 11-rebound outing, his fourth double-double of the season. In the first meeting with SIU this season, Robbins had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

He is one of a handful of Bulldogs that have thrived against the Salukis. Last year, both D.J. Wilkins and Noah Thomas recorded career highs against SIU. Wilkins scored 20 points at SIU while Thomas had 24 points in last year's home win.

The Salukis defense ranks 11th nationally in scoring defense at 60.3 points per game. Earlier this year, they held Drake to 49 points, its second-fewest points of the season.

Following Saturday's game, the Bulldogs remain home to host Bradley Feb. 5 at 8 p.m.
