Drake vs. Air Force Postgame Notes

TEAM NOTES
  • The win was head coach Darian DeVries' 50th career win and win at Drake. The third-year head coach owns a 50-24 record and is the fastest Bulldog coach to 50 wins.
  • The was was Drake's sixth-straight, the third-best winning streak to open a season in school history. The 1979-80 team won seven-straight while the 1970-71 team opened the season a program-best 8-0 mark.
  • The win was Drake's 22nd-straight non-conference home win. The Bulldogs' last non-conference loss at home was Dec. 19, 2016 to South Dakota State.
  • Drake improved to 17-0 in non-conference home games under Darian DeVries.
  • The Bulldogs are 31-4 under DeVries at home. 
  • Drake is 42-7 at home since the 2017-18 season.
  • Drake's 38-28 halftime lead was its sixth halftime lead of the season and its fourth-double-digit halftime lead. The 38 points tied for Drake's second fewest in the first half this season. Drake improved to 42-5 when leading at halftime under DeVries.
  • Drake scored 80 or more points for the fifth time this season. Drake is 21-0 under DeVries when scoring 80 or more points.
  • The 28-point margin of victory was Drake's second biggest this season and the sixth-straight double-digit win this year. Drake's average margin of victory this season is 23.8 points. 
  • Drake's streak of six-straight double-digit wins is its first since Dec. 1987.
  • Drake scored 42 points in the paint against Air Force, the sixth-straight opponent it has outscored in the paint this season. Drake is outsourcing opponents in the paint by an average of 22.7 points and Drake is averaging 46.3 points in the paint per game. 
  • Drake's 10 three-pointers were its second most of the season.
  • Drake's 20-rebound advantage was its biggest of the season. The Bulldogs' 40 rebounds marked the fifth-straight game Drake has had 40 or more rebounds. 

INDIVIDUAL  NOTES
  • D.J. Wilkins scored a career-high 23 points with a career-best six three-pointers. He was 6-of-10 from the arc and 7-of-11 from the field.
  • Wilkins is shooting 13-of-20 from the three-point arc in the last four games.
  • Shanquan Hemphill's 10 rebounds were his most as a Bulldog.
  • Darnell Brodie had a career-high nine rebounds. 
  • Roman Penn had 11 points and eight assists. Against Air Force in his career, he's averaging 16.5 points and 8.5 assists per game. He has had five or more assists in five games this season and 28 times in his career.

SERIES NOTES
  • Drake improved to 8-0 against Air Force, 5-0 in Des Moines and 2-0 in the Knapp Center.
  • The 28-point margin of victory was Drake's biggest in the series by nine points.
  • Drake's 81 points were its second most in the series. Last year, Drake scored 85 points at Air Force.
