Drake vs. North Dakota Postgame Notes

TEAM NOTES
  • Drake improved to 9-0 to set the school record for the best start to a season. The 1970-71 team held the previous record with an 8-0 start.
  • Drake begins conference play undefeated for the first time since 1960-61. That team navigated the non-conference schedule with a 6-0 record.
  • The 33-point win marked Drake's ninth-straight double-digit win, something never before accomplished in program history. Drake's average margin of victory is 26.4 points per game.
  • Drake is the second NCAA Division I team since 2011 to begin a season with eight or more non-conference wins by double-digits. The 2010-11 Ohio State team is the last team to do so as they won 13-straight non-conference games by double-figures. 
  • Drake has defeated its last two opponents by a combined 77 points.
  • The win was Drake's 23rd consecutive non-conference home win. The streak dates back to Dec. 19, 2016.
  • Drake is 33-4 at the Knapp Center under head coach Darian DeVries.
  • Drake hit the 80-point mark for the seventh time this season. Drake is 23-0 when scoring 80 or more points in the last three seasons.
  • Drake came into the game ranked eighth in the nation in field goal percentage. The Bulldogs shot 55.2 percent in the win and are now shooting 53.6 percent this season.
  • UND's 55 points marked the fifth time Drake has held an opponent under 60 points this season. Kansas State is the only team to hit the 70-point mark against the Bulldogs. Drake is now 18-3 over the last three seasons when holding its opponent to fewer than 60 points.
  • Drake held a 37-27 advantage in rebounds. It was the fifth-straight double-digit rebounding advantage Drake has had.
  • Drake's 44 points in the paint marked the seventh time this season the Bulldogs have scored 40 or more points in the paint this season.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Shanquan Hemphill continued his torrid scoring with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He has 40 points in his last two games on 17-of-23 shooting.
  • D.J. Wilkins was a perfect 2-of-2 from the three-point arc and is shooting 15-of-25 in the last four games.
  • Tremell Murphy's three three-pointers equaled a career high. He is 7-of-13 in the last three games.
  • Roman Penn had two assists to three turnovers, marking his first negative assist-to-turnover ratio of the season. It is just the third time in 43 games as a Bulldog he has not had a positive assist-to-turnover ratio in a game. He owns a 54-to-23 assist to turnover margin this season.
 
SERIES NOTES
  • Drake improved to 5-1 all-time against North Dakota and 4-0 in Des Moines.
  • The 33-point margin of victory was Drake's second-largest in the series. In 1959, Drake defeated North Dakota, 84-50.
